On Monday, Funky Buddha Brewery released its new imperial Russian stout, Nokolai Vorlauf.

According to John Linn, brand director for funky Buddha, Nokolai Vorlauf clocks in at 9.5 percent ABUs, 45 IBUs and has “a lot of chocolate and roast character, but balanced out with the right amount of sweetness.”

Nikolai Vorlauf is actually named in reference to two very different things. The first being Nikolai Volkoff, a former professional wrestler. The second being the brewing term vorlauf, which is the process of clarifying the wort being drawn out of the mash tun.

Nikolai Vorlauf is a “one-shot release” consisting of around 1,300 cases and will be available throughout Florida in 22-ounce bottles. Suggested retail pricing is $9.99.
