Matt Ehinger of Bitter Sisters Brewing Co. came to Texas by way of Oklahoma.
Having been a home brewer while attending the University of Oklahoma, Ehinger was able to land a job as a full-time head brewer at Norman, Okla.-based Coach’s Brew Pub, where he took care of all of the daily brewing operations for almost four years. After graduating with a bachelors of science in industrial engineering, he moved to Dallas, Texas and worked in semiconductor manufacturing for 13 years before working with his wife’s family to start Bitter Sisters’ Brewery.
The Addison, Texas-based brewery opened over the summer with a 30-barrel system that is concentrating on lagers as well as American and English ales. The first releases out of the brewery include Busy Body, a 5.92 percent ABV blonde lager; Cat Fight, a 6.66 percent ABV IPA; Knock Out, an 8.16 percent ABV Irish red ale and Hissy Fit, a 5.78 percent märzen lager.
