Wicked Weed Brewing’s newest release commemorates the Asheville, N.C.-based brewery’s 1,000th batch of beer.
The result is the appropriately named Batch 1,000, a bourbon barrel-aged imperial dark ale brewed with dried cherries, golden raisins, plum, rose hips and turbinado sugar. According to Wicked Weed, each of the first three brewers at the brewery—Luke Dickinson, Walt Dickinson and Eric Leypoldt—chose two of the ingredients that were used in the beer, which was brewed on Sept. 2, 2014.
This is the third time that Wicked Weed has released a beer under the Batch moniker, after the brewery collaborated with Winston-Salem, N.C.- based Foothills Brewing Co. for Batch 69 (8.9 percent ABV) in 2013 and Batch 100 (8 percent ABV) was released in 2014.
Batch 1,000 is on sale exclusively at Wicked Weed’s Brewpub today. An email sent to the brewery for details regarding bottle size, pricing and release numbers was not immediately returned.
