While Santa might get milk and cookies this Christmas, fans of Wicked Weed Brewing are out of luck.
The Asheville, N.C.-based brewery has announced that it is cancelling its release of Barrel-Aged Milk & Cookies, a 9.5 percent ABV imperial milk stout brewed with cinnamon, vanilla, and golden raisins before being aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels. According to a post on Wicked Weed’s Instagram page, the final beer “just didn’t end up being the beer we hoped it would be” after blending.
“As such, we have decided to not release this years’ batch into distribution,” reads a post on the brewery’s Instagram page. “From the liquid inside, to the packaging of the beer itself, so many great people have a hand in creating our beers here at Wicked Weed, and the reality of being unable to release this beer to you is not a decision we take lightly, and honestly, “bummed out” is a phrase that comes to mind.”
As the name suggests, Barrel-Aged Milk & Cookies uses Wicked Weeds’ Milk & Cookies as its base, an 8.5 percent ABV imperial milk stout that was first released as a draft-only option in late December 2013 at the brewery’s second anniversary event.
