Ravers will now have an ale to call their own, as Westbrook Brewing Co. has released Raver’s Extra Ripe Old Ale.
According to the Mt. Pleasant, S.C.-based brewery, the 8.2 percent ABV old ale is a blend of beers that have been aged in three different barrels for one year. Half the blend was aged in bourbon barrels while a quarter was aged in red wine barrels and the remaining 25 percent in apple brand barrels.
“Dust off those glowsticks and get ready to rave once again with this ripe and funky old ale spiked with brettanomyces and aged for one year in a blend of bourbon, apple brand y, and red wine barrels,” says the label.
Raver’s Extra Ripe Old Ale is being sold on draft and in 22-ounce bottles ($15). While the vast majority of the bottles will be sold at the brewery, Westbrook did confirm on its Facebook page that a “very limited” amount will be distributed.
