Two days after Westbrook Brewing Co. released this year’s version of Mexican Cake, a popular variant has followed.
The beer in question is Mexican Coffee Cake 2017, a 10.5 percent ABV imperial stout aged on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks and fresh habanero peppers as well as coffee. The stout uses the Mt. Pleasant, S.C.-based brewery’s Mexican Cake (10.5 percent ABV) as its base, a beer that debuted in 2012 to celebrate Westbrook’s first anniversary.
According to a spokesperson at the brewery, this year’s incarnation of Mexican Coffee Cake is packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($20) and is on sale at Westbrook now with a three bottle per person purchase limit.
