The newest incarnations of Westbrook Brewing Co.’s famous barrel-aged beer are now on sale online.

The Mt. Pleasant, S.C.-based brewery is now selling four different barrel-aged variants of its famous Mexican Cake, a 10.5 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and fresh habanero peppers. The stout was first released in January 2012 to celebrate the brewery’s first anniversary, and has been a staple release every year since.

According to a link on, there will be four different variants released, all packaged in 22-ounce bottles. The only way to get the new beers is to purchase a 12-bottle package made up of three bottles of those four different versions for a total of $360:

  • Three bottles of 2019 TN Whiskey Barrel-Aged Mexican Cake aged in barrels that previously held Jack Daniels rye whiskey
  • Three bottles of 2019 Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Mexican Cake aged in barrels that previously held Woodford rye whiskey
  • Three bottles of 2019 Maple Bourbon & Coffee Barrel-Aged Mexican Cake aged in maple bourbon barrels with coffee
  • Three bottles of 2019 Maple Bourbon & Walnut Barrel-Aged Mexican Cake aged in maple bourbon barrels  with walnuts

There is a one allotment per person limit and purchasers will be able to pickup their bottles at the brewery only on Dec. 7 between the hours of noon and 4pm. In addition, proxies will be allowed.
