Westbrook Brewing Co.’s newest addition to its Shake IPA Series may be the first canned incarnation to be aged in whiskey barrels.
According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the Mt. Pleasant, S.C.-based brewery is working on releasing Eggnog Shake IPA, a 7 percent ABV IPA brewed with hops as well as eggs, lactose, nutmeg and Madagascar vanilla beans. In addition, the IPA was aged in whiskey barrels and is schleulded to be packaged in 16-ounce cans.
Eggnog Shake IPA will be the newest addition to Westbrook’s Shake Series, which also includes past versions like Coconut Shake IPA, Vanilla Shake IPA and Peanut Butter Shake IPA, some of which use a slightly different combination of hops, including Citra and mosaic hops or Citra and El Dorado.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
