Fans of Victory Brewing Co.’s Golden Monkey will soon have another Monkey on their back.
The Downingtown, Pa..-based brewery has taken its year-round Belgian-style tripel that was first released in 2001 and added souring brettanomyces in order to produce an entirely new beer. Named Sour Monkey, the variant comes in at 9.5 percent ABV and will be bottle-conditioned.
“This electrifying transformation of our famed Golden Monkey may just blow your mind,” reads the bottle label. “Tastefully twisted to offer nuances of sweet fruit and a sharp tang of tartness, this exhilarating combination of flavors makes this brew a Monkey all it’s own.”
According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the new release will be packaged in 750ml bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional details was not immediately returned.
