Upslope Brewing Co.’s newest addition to its lineup has been aged in barrels from a popular whiskey distiller.

According to a label with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Lee Hill Series Volume 27: Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout is a 16.2 percent ABV imperial stout aged in barrels that previously held Leopold Bros Maryland-Style rye whiskey for one year.

The stout was then conditioned on a combination of Madagascar vanilla extract and Saigon cinnamon and is scheduled to be packaged in 19.2-ounce cans on Jan. 15, 2021.

As the name indicates, the new beer is the latest release in the Boulder, Colo. brewery’s Lee Hill Series, which commemorates the original brewery location at Lee Hill in Boulder which is now used to produce small batch releases.

An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
