Turning Point Beer’s first barrel-aged release of the new year might seem a bit familiar to the brewery’s biggest fans.
That beer is Captain Delicious Pants, a 16.3 percent ABV blend of imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels for between 14 and 17 months before being conditioned on “over a half a pound per gallon” of Reeses peanut butter cups and vanilla beans. The name of the new release comes from a deleted scene from the movie Deadpool 2.
The Bedford, Texas-based brewery has conditioned an imperial stout on peanut butter cups before, namely for the first release made exclusively for members of its Secret Time Club, although that 11.9 percent ABV stout was packaged in cans and was not barrel-aged.
According to a post on Turning Point’s Facebook page, Captain Delicious Pants will be packaged in 500ml waxed bottles ($22) and will have have a eight bottle per person purchase limit when it goes on sale exclusively at the brewery on Feb. 8.
