The newest creation from Turning Point Beer was aged in “experimental” bourbon barrels.

We Lost Control is a 16.6 percent ABV blend of imperial stouts aged in “experimental wheat bourbon barrels” 13 months before being conditioned on “an insane amount” of caramel, coconut and vanilla. The name of the new release comes from a song by the band The Bled.

This is the third bottled barrel-aged stout to be released by the Bedford, Texas-based brewery this year, after Captain Delicious Pants, a 16.3 percent ABV blend of imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels for between 14 and 17 months before being conditioned on “over a half a pound per gallon” of Reeses peanut butter cups and vanilla beans was sold in February and Loosely Prearranged Destiny, a 16.2 percent ABV blend of imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels for between 12 and 15 months before being conditioned on “a hefty addition” of cream cheese, walnuts, cinnamon, vanilla beans and coffee was released last month.

According to a text conversation with James Peery, co-owner of Turning Point, We Lost Control will be packaged in 500ml waxed bottles ($21) and will have purchase limit to be determined when it goes on sale exclusively at the brewery on April 29. In addition, the taproom draft service has been suspended and there will be no on-premise consumption, so the only option will be to purchase bottles and cans to-go.
