Pastry stout has become almost common vernacular in the craft beer world these days as a way to describe overly bakery-inspired sweet stouts, but a new creation being released today by Turning Point Beer takes the meaning of the term one step further.
The Bedford, Texas-based brewery is releasing C Is For Stout, a 13 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with with cookie dough and vanilla beans. This is the second pastry-inspired stout Turning Point has released in as many weeks, after the brewery debuted Coconut Migration last week, a 13.3 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with cacao nibs, coconut, lactose and pecans that is meant to recreate the flavors of a German chocolate cake.
In addition, Turning Point will be releasing the newest version of The Johnny Karate Super Awesome Musical Explosion Show, a 10.8 percent ABV New England-style triple IPA brewed with Azacca, Citra, Hallertau Blanc, and El Dorado hops. The triple IPA was last sold in 16-ounce cans in late December of last year.
According to a post on Turning Point’s Facebook page, both C Is For Stout and The Johnny Karate Super Awesome Musical Explosion Show will be packaged in four-packs of 16-ounce cans that will retail for $20 respectively. In addition, there will be no purchase limit on either beer when they are released exclusively at the brewery today.
