Four different versions of a beer that Trillium Brewing Co. brewed with Cloudwater Brew Co., Other Half Brewing, Monkish Brewing Co. and The Veil Brewing Co. almost three years ago is finally ready to be released.
Threads is a 15.2 percent ABV British stock ale that has been aged in a number of different barrels, including bourbon barrels, maple bourbon barrels, rye whiskey barrels and apple brandy barrels. According to Trillium, there are four different variants of the ale being released:
- Threads: Base (15.2 percent ABV) — As the name suggests, this is the base barrel-aged ale with no adjuncts added
- Threads: Vanilla (15.2 percent ABV) — The base beer was conditioned on “a generous, yet deft addition” of vanilla beans
- Threads: Almond (15.2 percent ABV) — Conditioned on almonds before being bottled
- Threads: Toasted Coconut (15.2 percent ABV) — Conditioned on toasted coconut before being bottled
The five different breweries have collaborated before, most notably on Fireplace Bananas, a 10.4 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with bananas in five different forms including dehydrated chips, dried, flame grilled, ground up and purée that was released in 2014; and Adjunction Junction, an 11.2 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with a “large amount” of almonds, coconut, coffee, macadamia nuts, pecans and vanilla that debuted last year.
In an email, Matthew Henry, social media and public relations coordinator for Trillium, all four variants of Threads are packaged in 750ml bottles ($24.05 for the base and $26.05 for the remaining three variants) with a purchase limit of two bottles of each variant per person and can be purchased online at this website now. Purchased bottles can then be picked up at any of Trillium’s three locations until Dec. 30, and no proxies will be allowed.
