Trillium Brewing Co. has collaborated with Firestone Walker Brewing Co. to release a brand new double IPA today.
That creation is named Switchboard Operator, a 9.5 percent ABV double IPA brewed with Citra hops and California-sourced Clairette Blanche grape juice. The new beer was produced using a modified Burton Union system technique used to produce Firestone’s Double Barrel Ale from Barrelworks’ master blender Jim Crooks that involved primary fermentation in a combination of 500L neutral puncheons as well as 200L American oak casks.
“We’re equal parts grateful and excited to have worked in collaboration with Barrelworks’ Master Blender, Jim Crooks, to apply this technique to a classic Trillium recipe, with the addition of California-sourced Clairette Blanche grape juice,” reads a statement sent in an email to Tenemu.
According to Trillium, Switchboard Operator is packaged in four-packs of 16-ounce cans ($22.50) and is available starting today at the Boston-based brewery’s Canton, Fort Point and Fenway locations with a one case per person purchase limit.
