Toolbox Brewing Co. has announced it will be shutting its doors for good this weekend.
The San Diego-based brewery posted the news on its Facebook page, saying that “We came into this industry with a love of beer and an even greater love of San Diego.”
“This always has been and always will be our home and to not be able to stay breaks our hearts,” reads a post on Toolbox’s Instagram page. “But the needs of our family will always be first and foremost. We have invested a lifetime of savings, blood, sweat and tears into Toolbox. We have fought the good fight but there comes a time to move on and accept your wins and losses graciously.”
Founded in 2014 by owners Amanda Elder and Spencer Peters, Toolbox started out with a three-barrel brewhouse, three six-barrel fermenters and a six-barrel bright tank. Peter Perrecone, an award-winning home brewer, was the brewery’s head brewer, who was eventually replaced by Ehren Schmidt in 2015.
According to Toolbox Brewing, the brewery’s final day will be Oct. 14.
