After more than 10 years as head of brewing operations for Surly Brewing Co., Todd Haug has resigned.

According to a post on the Minneapolis, Minn.-based brewery’s website, Haug has decided to call it quits in order to “pursue other opportunities and challenges in the industry.”

“I’d like to thank our family, friends and fans – Surly Nation – for always believing in our vision,” said Haug in a post on Surly’s website. “It never gets old to hear people tell you how much they enjoy your beer. Omar and I set out with the modest goal to build a brewery so we could create a different kind of craft beer – the kind we wanted to drink – and I think we achieved that.”

Haug started out as a home brewer when he was 19 before joining Summit Brewing at the age of 21. He then worked for a brewpub named Rock Bottom for four years before getting his job at Surly in 2006.
