The Alchemist has announced a brand new beer that is debuting today.
The Stowe, Vt.-based brewery will be debuting Harvest Ale, a 6.7 percent ABV “American ale” brewed with mercure hops from Germany as well as barley sourced from Peterson Malt Co. in Vermont. In addition, the first runnings of the mash were cooked down and caramelized in the kettle before continuing to brew the beer as normal.
“This is a beer I used to make at the pub, but it was never the same every year, every year it was different, I tried a different hop, I tried different malts,” said John Kimmich, head brewer at The Alchemist, in a video posted on the brewery’s YouTube page. “It was always intended to be a malty, delicious, harvest type beer, but always with a German tilt.”
According to The Alchemist’s Facebook page, Harvest Ale is packaged in four-packs of 16-ounce cans ($12.50) with a one four-pack per person per day limit when it goes on sale at the brewery today.
