Some things just belong together. Peanut Butter and Jelly. Ham and Cheese. Campfires and S’mores.
Terrapin Beer Co. has a long history of brewing up side projects. Four years ago, Dustin Watts, Terrapin’s vp of sales and marketing, organized a home-brewing competition aimed at building bonds among Terrapin employees.
This year’s winner is Chubby Bunny, also known as Side Project 29, is an imperial milk stout. The beer is self-described as a combination of graham cracker, toasted marshmallow and dark chocolate. The chocolate comes via another Athens, Ga.-based business: Condor Chocolates, which specializes in bean-to-bar creations with cacao sourced from Ecuador.
A departure from previous 22-ounce releases, Chubby Bunny will be packaged in 500ml bottles at 9.3 percent ABV, according to a label submitted to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).
Previous winners of the home-brew challenge are:
- Side Project 26 – Poivre Potion – 9.3 percent ABV
- Side Project 24 – Turtleneck – 8.4 percent ABV
- Side Project 21 – Pineapple Express – 5.4 percent ABV
Historically, winning beers are released across Terrapin’s distribution network. An email sent to the brewery seeking additional information was not immediately returned.
