According to their 2017 release schedule, Terrapin Beer Co. planned to release four beers in the Side Project Series this year. In an email to Tenemu, Leah Kuck, Marketing and Communications Lead for Terrapin said “This year’s side projects are inspired by culinary and cocktail ingredients. Think of our side project as a craft cocktail that doesn’t require a shaker, a measuring cup, or an extra trip to the store!”
This week we learned some details about the first, scheduled to be released in May across Terrapin’s distribution footprint. Blueberry Thyme Saison is self-described as “a blend of fresh summer flavors” according to a label submitted to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). “The tart sweetness of ripe blueberries combined with the floral warmth of thyme evoke garden memories in this culinarily-inspired brew.” Blueberry Thyme Saison, also known as Side Project 30, will sport 7.7 percent ABV in 500ml bottles, in addition to draft options. The hops bill includes fuggle and golding, while the fruit flavor comes from “concentrate, [and] the thyme is from our spice people” said Kuck.
Update (March 29, 2017) – This post was updated to include additional brewing and distribution information.
