Terrapin Beer Co. has announced the latest beer in its Reserve Series, Moo-HooChiato, a chocolate espresso milk stout. Coming it at 6.1 percent ABV, Moo-HooChiato uses the popular Moo-Hoo chocolate stout as a base, then adds both cocoa nibs from Olive & Sinclair Chocolate Co. and espresso from Jittery Joe’s Coffee. Terrapin then brewed the stout with lactose sugar for a creamier mouthfeel and some slight sweetness.
Moo-HooChiato is the fourth release in Athen, Ga.-based Terrapin’s Reserve Series, which includes White Chocolate Moo-Hoo, Cinnamon Roll’d Wake-n-Bake and the recently released Imperial Pumpkin Porter. Terrapin has partnered with both companies before for beers in its Reserve Series, utilizing Jittery Joe’s coffee in Wake-n-Bake coffee stout and Olive & Sinclair’s chocolate in Moo-Hoo chocolate stout, but Moo-HooChiato is the first Terrapin beer that incorporates both into the same blend.
While pricing or a release date have yet to be announced, Moo-HooChiato will be sold in limited quantities in both 22-ounce bottles and on draft across its distribution network, which includes 10 states in the southeast and east coast areas of the U.S.: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
