A new, special-release ale from Tahoe Mountain Brewing Co., Biere De Garde, just hit store shelves.
Biere de Garde is now available! Aged in sherry puncheons with brett lends to a tart and peppery taste. Enjoy! pic.twitter.com/E9DykDPgNC

Biere De Garde is a 5.9 percent ABV blend of barrel-aged and barrel fermented batches, using both brettanomyces and saison yeasts. The brewery says this gives Biere De Garde a malty backbone and a delicate hop aroma. The farmhouse ale is brewed in steel for about two weeks and then transferred to 500ml sherry puncheons as another batch is barrel-fermented in sherry puncheons. After conditioning with brett in those barrels it was dry hopped with Nugget, giving it an earthy and peppery character.
Tahoe Mountain plans on having Biere De Garde be a seasonal release.
The new beer is available in bottles and on draft. Tahoe Mountain currently distributes to California, but has plans to expand to Nevada and Washington.
