Abrasive is back.
As in years past, the 9 percent ABV double IPA from Surly Brewing Co. is brewed with English yeast, 2-row and golden naked oats malts and warrior and citra hops. The beer was originally released in 2008 before becoming an annual release that is now sold every year in November.
Abrasive was originally dubbed 16 Grit, named after the size of abrasive grit used at the old Abrasive factory that once stood where the original Surly brewery now resides in Brooklyn Center.
According to a post on the Minneapolis, Minn.-based brewery’s website, Abrasive will be packaged in six-packs of 16-ounce cans when it is officially released at an event taking place at Echo Tap in Madison, Wis. on Nov. 4 before being shipped to retailers.
