Surly Brewing Co.’s Wet Hopped West Coast Style IPA will be back for 2017.

The seasonal offering has not been released every year. Surly took 2014 off from brewing this particular beer while it moved into a new facility. There was also not a Wet Hopped West Coast Style IPA last year.

The forecast for 2017 on the other hand: wet and hoppy.

The 2017 version of Wet Hopped West Coast Style IPA clocks in at 6.1 percent ABV and will be packaged in a 16-ounce can, according to a label submitted to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

The beer features American-grown hops that are about four days removed from the fields before landing in a brew kettle. With careful coordination, the hops are delivered and applied as quickly as possible. As a result, the hops have not had time to dry out, hence the descriptor, wet. For the 2015 edition, Surly brewed 600 barrels of beer with three tons of Simcoe hops in the process.
