A barrel-aged version of one of Surly Brewing Co.’s most popular sour beers is now in stores.

Barrel-Aged Pentagram 2017 is a 6.6 percent ABV dark sour ale brewed with 2-row pale, Belgian crystal, chocolate and dark Munich malts as well as warrior hops before being aged in red wine barrels sourced from California for 18 months. After that, this version of the ale was aged an additional eight months in barrels that previously held High West rye whiskey  before being bottled.

According to a post on the Minneapolis-based brewery’s website, Barrel-Aged Pentagram 2017 is packaged in 750ml bottles and is on shelves in “most” of Surly’s distribution footprint now.
