Starting this week, you will soon be able to take the son of the devil with you wherever you go.
Surly Brewing Co. is releasing Damien, a 5 percent ABV dry-hopped black ale that is brewed with “the remains” of the brewery’s Darkness (11.5 percent ABV), a Russian imperial stout brewed with pale ale, golden promise, crystal, dark crystal, oats, black, chocolate, and roast malts, as well as Amarillo, Columbus, and Simcoe hops. The black ale was first released by the Minneapolis, Minn.-based brewery as a draft-only option in 2011, and this is the first time it has been bottled.
According to a post on Surly’s Instagram page, Damien is packaged in 750ml bottles and is being released on retailer’s shelves in the brewery’s distribution network now.
