As part of its 2018 release plans, Summit Brewing Co. is introducing seven new beers, upgrading a seasonal fan favorite to a year-round release and is bringing back X old favorites and is bringing rereleasing an Unchained Series coffee milk stout.

The St. Paul, Minn.-based brewery will start the new year by launching a flurry of releases, including three new hop-forward beers: Wee IPA, Imperial IPA, and Experimental Hop IPA. Alongside Sága IPA, these four beers comprise the IPA Collection variety pack available from January through March.

Another new beer for 2018 launching in January is Dakota Soul, a Czech-style pils that will be packaged in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans as well as six- and 12-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

Finally, January will also see the brewery will be upgrading its Keller Pils to year-round distribution packaged in six- and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

“I always stock up on Keller Pils and squirrel it away in my basement” said Mark Stutrud, founder and president of Summit, in a post on the brewery’s website. “But I don’t have to do that anymore.”

February will bring the annual return of spring seasonal Summit Maibock packaged in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans as well as six- and 12-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

By April, the pace picks up again, with the release of the Boundary Waters variety box, which will include three each of four different beers in 12-ounce cans:

  • Hefeweizen
  • Lazy Sipper, brewed with Minnesota-grown ingredients and strawberries from the University of Minnesota’s breeding program
  • Golden Fruited Ale, brewed with southern hemisphere hops, European malts, peach and apricots
  • Shore Sitter, a white ale

After debuting in the Boundary Waters variety box, Shore Sitter will join the year-round lineup in June packaged in six- and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Once summer begins to wane in August, the Harvest Collection will be released, featuring a 12-pack with three each of four different beers packaged in 12-ounce cans:

  • Extra Pale Ale
  • Oktoberfest
  • Dakota Soul
  • Minnesota Harvest Ale

By the time the leaves have begun to fall in November, Summit will release Union Series 7: 120 Shilling Export Scotch Ale. This beer is a 12 percent ABV small-batch ale aged in wooden hogsheads that will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

In addition, November will mark the return of Summit’s Penalty Box of 12 12-ounce cans anchored by new year-round beer Dakota Soul and Extra Pale Ale. In addition, the Penalty Box “will also introduce you to Summit Snow Emergency and reconnect you with your old flame Summit Dark Infusion” according to the company website. Snow Emergency is a new version of Great Northern Porter brewed with Madagascar vanilla beans and cacao nibs from Ghana, while Dark Infusion coffee milk stout is the first Unchained Series beer to be rereleased.
