Stone Brewing Co. is unapologetic about bringing back this IPA two years after it was last seen, albeit in a different form.
The beer is Still Unapologetic IPA, an 8.8 percent ABV double IPA brewed with Azacca, chinook, Idaho 7, Magnum and Motueka hops. As with the first release from June 2014, the IPA was brewed in collaboration with two other breweries: Long Beach, Calif.-based Beachwood BBQ & Brewing and Heretic Brewing Co. in Fairfield, Calif..
However, that version used Azacca, bellman, chinook, HBC 342, hopsteiner 06300 and Magnum hops.
Still Unapologetic IPA is being released as part of Stone’s 20th Anniversary Encore Series, which, as the name implies, includes beers previously released being brought back to commemorate the Escondido, Calif.-based brewery’s 20th anniversary. There have been three different beers rereleased in the series so far:
- January 2016 — 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (9.2 percent ABV) packaged in 22-ounce bottles
- April 2016 — 6th Anniversary Porter (8 percent ABV) packaged in 22-ounce bottles
- July 2016 — 02.02.02 Vertical Epic Ale (7.5 percent ABV) packaged in 22-ounce bottles
According to a post on Stone’s website, Still Unapologetic IPA will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and is being released nationwide starting today.
