Next week, Stone Brewing Co. will be shipping a brand new IPA that was inspired by a trip to Shanghai, China.
Soaring Dragon Imperial IPA is an 8 percent ABV imperial IPA brewed with Citra and Loral hops as well as Peony white tea. The new IPA came to be after some of the Escondido, Calif.-based brewery’s brewers visited the famous Tianshan Tea City market in Shanghai while on a business trip.
“Over the last few years, we have continued our obsession with tea, brewing different versions with different types of tea on our pilot system in Escondido as well as at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station and Stone Brewing – Napa,” reads a post on Stone’s website. “We visited the Tianshan Tea City market in Shanghai, China in search of the perfect tea for this IPA that we had in mind. Of all the types of tea we experimented with, White Tea kept coming up as our favorite. The challenge then was to get the perfect amount of tea in the beer to achieve harmony and balance, which we have done in this Imperial White Tea IPA.”
According to Stone’s website, Soaring Dragon Imperial IPA will be packaged in both six-packs of 12-ounce cans and 22-ounce bottles that are scheduled to be released on April 20 and available through July.
