Stone Brewing Co. has been quietly working on a special project over the past few years, and now we finally know what it’s been up to.
The Escondido, Calif.-based brewery will be releasing a new beer named Mission Warehouse Sour – Apricot, an 8.7 percent ABV that is composed of blend of a soured base beer; a barrel-aged barleywine; and a very hoppy, high-ABV, barrel-aged triple. The latter two components were aged with three strains of brettanomyces and the final beer was conditioned on 500 pounds of apricots for 18 months, which were added to just four barrels.
According to Stone, Mission Warehouse Sour – Apricot is packaged in four-packs of 330ml bottles ($32) that are on sale via Eventbrite now. There will be a purchase limit of four four-packs per person with no proxies will be allowed, and the beers must be picked up by Dec. 31.
