Stone Brewing Co. and Maui Brewing Co. are saying hello to Berlin with a new collaboration.
The beer is Aloha! Berlin, a 9.1 percent ABV imperial porter brewed with coffee, hand-toasted coconut and hazelnuts. This is the not the first time the breweries have joined forces, after Ken Schmidt / Maui / Stone Kona Coffee Macadamia Coconut Porter (8.5 percent ABV) brewed with coffee, coconut and Macadamia nuts was released in 2009. A post on Stone Berlin’s Indigo website indicates that the new beer was brewed at Stone’s Berlin facility on July 19.
The new porter is one of the brewery’s Groundbreaking Collaborations that is being brewed at Stone’s new Berlin facility, which opened in Sept. 2015 after more than a year of construction. In 2014, StoneBerlin launched an Indigo campaign online that eventually raised more than $2.5 million to build the new brewery, with contributors having the option of being awarded large-format bottles of 14 different collaboration beers that will be produced in the next year. However, smaller format bottles will be sold of some of the resulting collaborations.
According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Aloha! Berlin will be packaged in 1.5L bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
