Stone Brewing Co. is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the release of eight fan-favorite beers, including its 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout on Jan. 25.
This beer was originally devised in 2008, when the industry was experiencing a hop shortage. In order to create the bitter flavors Stone is known for, the brewers ventured into an area less explored by brewers, pulling bitterness from pure cacao added at the end of the boil. This encore presentation is a duplicate of the original, with an ABV of 9.2 percent and 55 IBUs.
It is available throughout Stone’s normal distribution footprint in 22-ounce bottle and on draft, although in limited quantities.
