Tomorrow, Smuttynose Brewing Co. will be releasing Biere de ‘Shire, a 9 percent ABV “blended saison” that is brewed with two different worts and brettanomyces. According to JT Thompson, head of publicity and communications for the Hampton, N.H.-based brewery, there were 10,692 bottles of the new beer filled.

“We ferment two worts, one with our french saison yeast and one with a brettanomyces strain,” wrote Thompson in an email to Tenemu. “Once fermentation is done we blend the batches back to just the right balance.”

According to Thompson, Biere de ‘Shire is packaged in 22-ounce bottles and will be released at the brewery on June 25 with no purchase limits.
