Smuttynose Brewing Co. has teamed up with Julio’s Liquors of Westborough, Mass. to create two exclusive beers.

These beers are both variants of Smuttynose’s Really Old Brown Dog Ale, which is an old ale.

One is a horchata version, spiced with vanilla bean and cinnamon. According to Tom Welton, operations manager for Julio’s, it has an ABV of 11.6 percent, and a smooth vanilla flavor that works to mellow out the boozy flavor from the bourbon barrels it is aged in.

The other is a bourbon barrel-aged version. The barrels used for aging came primarily from Buffalo Trace and Four Roses. Smuttynose Whiskey Barrel-Aged Really Old Brown Dog also has an ABV of 11.6 percent. The flavor profile on this version in reported to be rich and malty, with notes of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, and a bit of toasted coconut.

Both are only available in two locations: Julio’s Bottle Shop has 22-ounce bottles and the beers on draft at The Boynton in Worcester, Mass. tonight.
