Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.’s newest incarnation of Hoptimum is its hoppiest yet.
Hoptimum 2018 is a 9.6 percent ABV triple IPA brewed with Citra, Crystal, Ekuanot, Loral, Mosaic, Simcoe and Strata hops. The triple IPA debuted in 2010 and has been released by the Chico, Calif.-based brewery every year since.
“We aimed for lower bitterness but more hop flavor and aroma by adding hops at every stage – mash, lauter, whirlpool, various stages of fermentation, dry hopping,” reads a reply from Sierra Nevada to a comment on the brewery’s Instagram account. “We also put it through our open fermenters with Lupulin. It’s pretty freaking hoppy.”
According to Sierra Nevada, Hoptimum 2018 is shipping to retailers across its distribution network now packaged in 12-ounce bottles.
