A Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. beer named after “the unicorn of the sea” is getting a new packaging option.

According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Barrel-Aged Narwhal 2019 is an 11.9 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with six different malts and two different hops before being aged in bourbon barrels for “nearly a year” and packaged in 16-ounce cans. Barrel-Aged Narwhal debuted in 2013 and has historically been packaged in 750ml bottles.

As the name suggests, the beer uses the Chico, Calif.-based brewery’s Narwhal imperial stout (10.2 percent ABV) as its base, a beer that debuted in 2012. There have been a number of different Narwal variants released over the years, including Trip In The Woods Cocoa Coconut Narwhal and Rum Barrel Aged Narwhal.

An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
