A new addition coming next year to Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.’s Trip In The Woods Series is a blend of different vintages of its famous barleywine.

The Chico, Calif.-based brewery will be releasing Vintage Bigfoot, an 11.5 percent ABV blend of one-, two and three-year Kentucky bourbon barrel-aged barleywine that will be packaged in 750ml bottles. As the name suggests, the new release uses Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot barleywine (9.6 percent ABV) as its base, a beer that debuted in 1987.

The Trip In The Woods Series is made up of beers aged in various types of barrels and has included releases such as Red Wine Barrel Bigfoot (9.6 percent ABV) aged in red wine barrels; Scotch Style Ale (9.1 percent ABV), which was aged in bourbon barrels and Raspberry Bigfoot (11.9 percent ABV) aged for approximately 12 months in wine barrels and conditioned on 90 pounds of fresh whole raspberries per barrel for about three months.

In an email, Terence Sullivan, production manager for Sierra Nevada, told Tenemu that bottles of Vintage Bigfoot are scheduled to ship nationwide in “mid to late February 2019.”
