According to labels filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is working on releasing Trip In The Woods Gin-Barrel-Aged Tripel, a 10.7 percent ABV Belgian triple-style beer that has been aged in gin barrels and packaged in 750ml bottles.
The new beer will be part of Chico, Calif.-based brewery’s Trip In The Woods Series, which is made up of beers aged in various types of barrels and has included releases such as:
- Barrel-Aged Lime Ale (9.3 percent ABV)
- Scotch Style Ale (9.1 percent ABV), which was aged in bourbon barrels
- Ovila Quad (10.3 percent ABV) aged in Madeira barrels (11.5 percent ABV)
- Barrel-Aged Porter, a 7.4 percent ABV porter that was aged in red wine barrels
Sierra Nevada’s 2018 release calendar indicates there will be a total of four new additions to its Trip In The Woods Series this year: the first was Trip In The Woods Maple Scotch (9.8 percent ABV) that was released in February and there are three more beers scheduled to be released in June, August and November.
