Since it opened in 2009, Short’s Brewing Co. has brewed 5,000 batches of beer at its production facility in Elk Rapids, Mich., and now it’s time to celebrate, with a new beer of course.
The appropriately named Batch 5000 is a triple IPA brewed with hops that evoke flavors of “pineapple and orange are complemented by an awesome piney hop bitterness that leads into a warming finish.” The new release is the first beer from Short’s that has been packaged in 22-ounce bottles.
“When I started thinking about reaching the milestone of Batch 5K, it brought back a lot of memories of the good old days,” said Tony Hansen, head brewer at Short’s, in a post on the brewery’s website. “A lot of which were celebrated yearly with a variety of huge IPAs brewed in celebration of our first five anniversary parties. So I really felt compelled to take parts and pieces from our best IPAs and create a monster triple IPA.”
According to the brewery, Batch 5000 is shipping to “select accounts” today and is also available for sale at the Short’s Brewing Co. pub in Bellaire, Mich.
