Saranac Brewery’s Single Malt Bourbon Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale is back, and this time a bit stronger.
The Saranac website claims “Our single malt is a high gravity scotch ale aged to sweet perfection in bourbon barrels. This is a rich, malty and sweet beer with an underlying scotch-like aroma to balance the malty notes.”
According to the beer label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), this newest member of the Saranac’s High Peaks Collection carries a 10 percent ABV, which is 1 percent higher than the 2014 release.
The High Peaks Collection has included beer such as Imperial IPA (8.5 percent ABV), Immortality (7.5 percent ABV), Clouded Dream (7.3 percent ABV), TramoNaY (7.8 percent ABV), Imperial Stout (9 percent ABV), and Chocolate Orange (5.2 percent ABV).
According to the brewery website distribution for Single Malt Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale 2015 is set for August 1, 2015. The Utica, N.Y.-based brewery will be shipping in 12-ounce bottles.
