There are five different hops in a new release from Rogue Ales.

The new beer is appropatily named 5 Hop Black IPA, and is a 5.55 percent ABV black IPA brewed with Alluvial, Freedom, Liberty, Rebel and Yaquina hops, all of which were grown on Rogue Farms in Oregon. The IPA was first released by the Newport, Ore.-based brewery as a draft-only option in July.

This will be the fifth release in Rogue’s Hop Series, which is composed of IPAs that are brewed with the same number of hops that are in each name:

  • 4 Hop IPA (4.44 percent ABV)
  • 5 Hop Black IPA (5.55 percent ABV)
  • 6 Hop IPA (6.66 percent ABV)
  • 7 Hop IPA (7.77 percent ABV)
  • 8 Hop IPA (8.88 percent ABV)

According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), 5 Hop Black IPA will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional release and distribution information was not immediately returned.
