According to Ranger Creek, “the nose features toffee, raisin, and sweet, boozy bourbon notes. Roasted malt, oak, and vanilla dominate the taste with more nuanced flavors of caramel and cherry developing as it warms. It finishes with a warming, coffee bitterness.”
This Texas Bourbon Barrel series by Ranger Creek was created to highlight its unique position as a combination brewery and distillery. The only combination of this sort in Texas, and one of only a handful in the U.S.. This series will limited edition beers aged in whiskey barrels, with a focus on bourbon.
According to Mark McDavid, co-founder of Ranger Creek, 580 cases of the beer were shipped out in 22-ounce bottles to Austin, College Station, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio, the latter of which received about one third of the total. There will also be very limited drat availability, as each city received one to two five gallon kegs for special tappings.
