Ranger Creek Brewery’s new fall seasonal is a tribute to Johnny Cash.
Sunday Morning Coming Down is a 7.1 percent ABV British strong ale brewed with coffee sourced from San Antonio, Texas-based Merit Roasting Co. According to co-owner Mark McDavid, two types of coffee were incorporated: a cold-pressed version was added to the beer after it was brewed, and the beer was conditioned on full beans for a “couple of days” to impart more coffee notes in the aroma.
The new release is named after a song by Johnny Cash titled “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down” which was released on his 1969 live album The Johnny Cash Show.
According to McDavid, the initial release of the new beer was at the 2015 San Antonio Beer Festival last weekend, but the beer will be released in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles during the first week of November and will be available in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
