A beer that was originally brewed to commemorate that anniversary of Prairie Artisan Ales’ most famous creation will now have a barrel-aged variant.
According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Barrel-Aged Birthday Bomb! is a 14.7 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with cacao nibs, chili peppers, coffee and vanilla beans that has been aged in bourbon barrels and packaged in 12-ounce bottles.
The new beer uses Prairie’s Birthday Bomb! as its base, a 13 percent ABV imperial stout which debuted in 2016 that incorporated caramel sauce that was hand made at the brewery, although there is no mention of that on the new label.
In addition, although the beer label attached to this story is the label that was approved by TTB, Prairie frequently changes the final designs of labels before the beers are released to market.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
