Peticolas Brewing Co. is set for its annual release Black Curtains, an imperial stout with an ABV of 11 percent and 80 IBUs, on Feb. 18.

“We enjoy making high alcohol beers,” said Michael Peticolas, founder of Peticolas, when asked about the origins of the beer.

“So when it came time to brew a stout, I immediately gravitated to an imperial version. I certainly wanted to focus on a roasty character for the beerand used a large amount of roasted barley as a result. You might be surprised at the amount of hop used to balance it out. Black Curtains has somewhat pf a dual meaning, but you’ll have to let the imagination run on that one.”

As with previous batches, Black Curtains will only be available on draft at the brewery. The brewery is open for tours on the first and third Saturday of each month. There will, however, be a release party for this beer on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
