Cigar City Brewing began distributing its beers in the Michigan market earlier this month and a special beer is being canned to commemorate the occasion.
According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Comstock Park, Mich.-based Perrin Brewing Co. is joining forces with Cigar City on North South IPA, a 7.1 percent ABV IPA brewed with Citra, Denali, Enigma and Galaxy hops before being packaged in 12-ounce cans.
The two breweries have collaborated on multiple beers in the past, including Triangulation imperial oatmeal stout—with Oskar Blues Brewery—and White Noise IPA, both of which were released in 2016.
Along with Oskar Blues, Squatters Craft Beer and Wasatch Brewery, both Perrin and Cigar City are members of CANarchy, a “disruptive collective of like-minded brewers dedicated to bringing quality and innovative flavors to beer drinkers in the name of independent craft beer” that was founded in 2015 and funded by Fireman Capital Partners.
An email sent to both breweries for additional information was not immediately returned.
