A seasonal coconut porter from Oskar Blues Brewery’s is making its return next month.
According to a post on the Longmont, Colo.-based brewery’s website, that is when it will be releasing the 2018 version of Death By Coconut, a 6.5 percent ABV Irish porter brewed with coconut and liquid dark chocolate sourced from Cholaca that was first released in 2014 during the Colorado Craft Beer Week. The original version of the beer was a collaboration between Oskar Blues and Pueblo, Colo.-based Shamrock Brewing Co., both of which have released their own versions in the past.
“No false advertising here – it’s as straightforward a chocolate-and-coconut beer as it gets,” said Juice Drapeau, head brewer at the Oskar Blues pilot brewery in Lyons, Colo., in a press release. “The chocolate-y malt flavors and coconut aroma and flavor are nicely balanced, and it’s not as viscous as a stout, which makes it more palatable.”
The newest release of Death By Coconut will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce cans and is scheduled to be released on Oct. 5 during events at the brewery’s facilities in Austin, Brevard, N.C., Longmont, Colo. and Boulder, Colo. Limited amounts will then begin shipping to retailers across the breweries entire distribution footprint starting in “early October.”
