One of Oskar Blues Brewery’s most anticipated beers is making a comeback next month, but only for one day: Dec. 9.
Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut is a 10.8 percent ABV Irish imperial porter brewed with dessicated coconut, coconut cream, and “pure liquid cacao” from Cholaca that has been aged for nine months in Jamaican rum barrels.
According to Oskar Blues’ website, Rum Barrel-Aged Death By Coconut will be available packaged in 19.2-ounce “stovepipe” cans ($12.50) and will be sold exclusively at the Tasty Weasel Taproom in Brevard, N.C., The Oak Room at Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, Colo. and Oskar Blues Boulder Taproom in Boulder on Dec. 9
The porter was released in cans for the first time last year, when it had a 12-can per person purchase limit. On Nov. 11, Oskar Blues released the 2017 incarnations of Java Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy and Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy, both of which come in at 12.9 percent ABV and are aged in a blend of barrels that previously held Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill bourbon for a minimum of eight months.
While there will be a purchase limit, those details are still being finalized, and will be announced before the release date.
