A brand new beer from Oskar Blues Brewery gets its name from a baby lion cub at the Denver Zoo.

Oskar The Lion is a 5.5 percent ABV sour ale brewed with guava and tangerine. The impetus for the new ale came after the Denver Zoo asked the public to vote on their favorite Colorado-inspired names for two newborn lion cubs and one of the winning names was Oskar.

In addition to naming the beer after the lion cub, Oskar Blues has pledged $1 from the purchase of each four-pack of Oskar The Lion ale will be donated to the Denver Zoo, with funds going towards “keeping zoo animals healthy and benefiting wildlife conservation efforts.”

According to a post on Oskar Blues’ website, Oskar The Lion ale is packaged in 16-ounce cans that are now available for purchase exclusively at the brewery’s Longmont and Boulder, Colorado taprooms.
