Oskar Blues Brewery’s newest release takes its name from the official dessert of Mardi Gras and Carnival.
That beer is Death By King Cake, a 6.5 percent ABV “white porter” brewed with cacao nibs, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, pecans and vanilla before being packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce cans. The porter debuted in 2019.
The Longmont, Colo.-based brewery has used the Death By moniker for multiple releases in the past, namely for Death By Coconut, a 6.5 percent ABV Irish porter brewed with coconut and pure liquid cacao made from cacao, water and coconut sugar that was sourced from Boulder-based Cholaca that debuted in 2014 and Death By Coffee, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with coffee.
According to a press release, Death By King Cake 2021 is packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce cans that are available at retailers nationwide starting this week.
